B body to A body swap

can i just puy my A body tailshaft housing onto a B body trans. Is there any other difference betwween the 2. i have an O.D. A body trans and there seems to be a lot more B body trans for sale.

i would assume you can but we should wait for someone who knows to answer, i am just as curious as you are

No the mainshaft is a different length also.

The a-body 4 speed w/bellhousing is the same length as a 904
The b-body/e-body 4 speed w/bellhousing is the same length as a 727.

It is and isn't,

Most a-bodies came with a 904, mopar made the sticks the same length so the driveline would be the same.

Most b-bodies/e-bodies that could come with a 4 speed as an option already had the 727 for a trans. All big block and 340 cars would have, this would make the drivelines the same also.
