ok, my shifter arrived today and once opened i realized i need a reverse pattern gate plate as i have reverse pattern VB. on the dyno Monday and wanted to get shifter in before then. got Hurst pro-matic 2 at the moment and it sucks. doesn't select gears properly.
looking at the instructions the plates are the same up to neutral postion, from there it is either D-2-1 or 1-2-D. can i just use the std gate until reverse pattern gate arrives.

Try it and see. I don't see why not but you will have to pay a lot of attention to how you shift and when it's being parked until you get the correct one.
