The the reason the Edel coil failed seems quite simple: it was/is faulty. Did NOT fail because the application was incorrect. The Edel website clearly states that coil is suitable for OEM ign systems, which was how it was used.

The 0.5 ohm ballast and the 1.4 ohm coil should work with the stock ECU. I agree that it is likely a bad coil.

I bought a masterpro coil a at Oreilly because that is all they had. It lasted about a week. I took it back & ordered a Standard Ignition coil. When it came in, it was the exact same coil. Chinese crap is everywhere, even name brands.
