Hi Folks, was refreshing my 727 had the trans on the bench upside down and was just after taking out the rear drum. Then i notice a ball bearing seating in the bell housing, thinking it may have drop out of the valvebody or the rear sprag not to sure:banghead:. Any thoughts, thanks for your input..

If it is a ball bearing and not a cylindrical bearing it did not come out of the rear sprag. That being said I vote valve body, how that is possible I don't know. Did you take the plate off the VB while it was still bolted up to the trans?

What is the diameter of the bearing. I think the valve body uses 11/32, 3/8 and 1/4 inch bearings, depending on the year.

only other thought than what's been posted
put the shift lever on and see if it feels funny- there's an approx 3/8 ball off the manual lever- best guess- post that pic.

Mistery solved ,shifter lever indent ball was the culpurt... Thxs for input
