anybody know what the ball joint tq specs are for the upper on a 70 duster..ive been looking and have not found them..

Are you looking for the ball joint itself when installing it into the upper control arm, or the castle nut when attaching the ball joint to the spindle/knuckle?

sorry the nut thats on the bottom of the ball joint..thanks for the fast reply

The oldest I could find was 1972.

Chilton book says 100ft/lbs for the castle nut, then tighten if necessary to align the hole for the cotter pin.

Make sure the hole in the knuckle and the tapered end of the ball joint stud are clean and free of all dirt. A small piece of sand or dirt will exert force on the shaft and cause it to break off. Not a good thing.

100 ft lbs for the lower ball joint is correct. for the upper it is 55 ft lbs...

When you hit the 55#, if the cotter pin hole does not line up w/ the castle nut, snug a little more, do not loosen to line it up.
