Nice work Darren, those are gorgeous!
In my opinion in 69 they dropped the ball, the hood is way too plain. Hood inserts definitely needed. I tossed some 2nd gen hoods years back, I should have kept 69. Would like to have "modified" one.
Be well and safe!

They should have carried these into 69! Sexy!

Ma mopar knew the 69 was just to get rid of parts on a 3 yr old platform and if I was at Ma mopar I would have thrown on the CUDA scoops on the S and gotten rid of more parts and boy did they make up for it in 70 !!!

I have a question. I have a 68 340-S and my inserts look nearly identical to yours except there is a deep red paint in the recess below the 340-S. In nearly every photo I have seen it is greyish silver like yours, but I did see one shot in a ad that showed a dark color. Are mine repainted (no other indication) or did these comes several ways from the factory?

I'm no expert, but I've never seen them any other color than what Darren's pieces.

Hi Darren I still can not P.M. you, still says your in box is full. I just wanted to know what kind or brand of paint you are using on those inserts, they look great. My 68 inserts are all chrome, were your's the same way? and if they were how did you prep the chrome so the paint would stick?
Thanks
Bob

Hi Bob.
Theses are the 3 paints I used
My inserts where nice and shiny also, all as I did for prep was wide them down with wax and grease remover (paint prep) before painting..
I also had a heat gun to flash the paint after painting.
I like to take the masking tape off 15 mins or so after painting, I find it helps the paint to not peel off the mask line.
I used a black pin stripe for the outer stripe.

My pictures are not the best. Maybe this one will show color scheme beter. You can see the 2 little fake bolts are painted black.

Did you do a lite sand on the chrome or just the wax and grease remover?
Bob
I was thinking of a light scuff with a scotch bright pad, but never did , just used the wax and grease remover ( paint prep) and shot the paint.. it went on real good .

Nice job! Did you clear coat as well?
Hi Steve..
I was thinking about clear coat (even had the can on table) but decided not to..
I am not sure if the 2 brands are compatible.. I wouldn't want to ruin them..
I might do a test piece of scrap metal with the paint then clear it after a few days to see if there is any reaction and see how much it effects the shades of colors..
Thanks
