I had ordered a cheap replacement chrome dipstick for the 383 and test fitted it to the motor out of the Cuda. It seemed ok apart from having to grind the end down a bit to fit it in the hole in the motor. After fitting the motor in and starting to put everything on the motor, I looked at the dipstick again and compared it to the standard one knowing that the C body dipstick wouldn't fit. To my suprise I found an "irregularity". The two dipsticks I have already, both off 383 motors (b body & c body), show that from the flare in the bottom of the tube to the full mark is 3.5 inches. The new chrome one is 4.5 inches. I'm thinking that the 2 factory ones are probably going to be correct.
