BC/CC OR Single stage ??

It's Nason 2k urethane.....I love it, sprays nice and flows out like glass

I just looked and the nearest Nason dealer is an hour away.

I have never even heard of that brand before. In the nearest small town to me, we have only one paint store and they only sell PPG. You walk in the store and nothing has prices so I have always wondered ....no competiion to speak of and no prices unless you ask .....hmmm

The local PPG dealer of course dominated at my local auto school, so they would and give seminars on PPG products only. So I don't really know how to use anything but PPG.

I think I am going to try Nason because that E-body is pure beauty and I want my car to look like that.

Nason is the second line of Dupont. Or at least they used to be. I've used it before, and like it.

BC/CC works well for metallic colors as the base metallic goes on more evenly since you dont have to worry about making the metallic coat slick and shiny. The clearcoat does all that.

However when working with solid non metallic colors, i feel that single stage is better for a few reasons.

1, you can apply many coats of single stage, and if later on you get a minor scratch that doesnt get into the primer, you can wet sand with 1600 grit to remove, and buff it out.

With clearcoat maybe, maybe not depends on how deep it goes.

2, clearcoat can start to peel off over time. Single stage not a problem.

On solid non metallics about the only advantage that base/clear has over single stage is its a bit cheaper because you dont need as much basecoat because you only apply enough to have an even color. The multiple coats of clear are what makes it durable, plus the clearcoat is cheaper than pigmented single stage.

I used to love dupont centari. But they havent sold that i think for years. I think dupont Imron is still around.

Single step.
When it gets dull or faded, it's so easy to buff up, The color comes all the way to the surface. If a red. or yellow paint sunfades under clear coat, how would you bring up the color when it's sealed under the clear?
I would be very cranky if I had a car with peely clear coat.

I wonder how Omni Au stacks up against Nason

Both seem to be the " economy" brand of a bigger brand name.

I am actually very familiar with omni but I am not sure about it's color matching or color correctness.

I have used the omni line many times over the years because that's the only thing I could get in the small town I live in.
It does OK but I really don't like it much as far as the quality. It wouldn't be very hard to find a better quality paint.
