It was my first car. when i bought it i was 17. it had an old tired 273. i blew it up in the first 3 months. all my friends talked alot of **** about the car until i dropped in the 318, 904, 8 3/4 with 3:73. put the cragers on it. ripped the vinyl top off and painted the roof black. car ran 13.70s in full street trim with street tires. I had the fastest car at my high school senior year. It was prob the best years of my life.

My turn!! My turn!!

Too weird! You could be my long lost twin or something. That story is frighteningly similar to mine. Mine was a GT, with the same wore out 273. Purchased at age 16. Rebuilt the motor over the first winter, added the 8.75 the following year. Ran like that a few years until motor huffed on me. Upgraded to a 360/727 combo until 2001. Mine was also probably the fastest car at my high school! Lol! If I get on the computer this weekend, I'll get some pics up. I don't have any on my phone.

i want to know why mine looked better when i first got it then it does now, but it is a jeep.

aarong5 what are you talking about thats a great looking Barracuda

well I got this car when I was 16 and didn't know anything about cars, couldn't change a spark plug on my own. so there was this guy in town that restored mopars, mostly challengers and chargers but I got him to do it. come to find out he was stealing peoples parts off their cars (most were from out of state and didn't check on them often) he put one high motor mount on one side and stacked 2 short ones on the other side, the drive shaft come out of a charger is a bit to short and not balanced so it vibrates horribly over 55mph I gave him new weather stripping and he didn't put it on, stole the seat adjuster knobs, he replaced the frame rails and welded the upper control arms on the wrong spot so I have to have very small tires on the front. he used a roll of carpet and it stops at the pedals so you can see the floor boards anyway tapped me out and ended up owing $10,000 in credit cards, I've got $25,000-$30,000 in the car and none of the chrome is new or re done seats need done.

best part is the guy is in jail now with a class action suit against him thats supposed to be settled in a couple of months (this happened in 2008-2009) and the paint is starting to fade already

This is one inspirational thread! It is so cool to see before and afters all at once. In the build threads it's so gradual that sometimes we forget how the cars looked at the start. These transformations are incredible. Its hard to believe its the same car sometimes (I found myself shaking my head last night when I added my before and afters. I can't believe how far my Dart has come since the day I first brought it home)

Here's my before and still working on after. But getting closer!

The "after" is after I sold. It's a real 440+6, 4 speed, Dana 4:10 car. The next owner did a beautiful restoration. I think the car is still in North Jersey but I lost contact with the owner.
