What have people replaced their original factory 340 conrods with which will give a little more rev capability & are reliable for a street engine & are not overly expensive? I hear Scat's are maybe the go.

With so many different suggestions, a better question is probably - are there any connecting rods to avoid? Are there any folks have had issues with?

Not my experience but several years back Eagle was getting in bad rap on its I beam rods. I haven't heard any complaints in quite a few years though.

I agree with JDMopar, that's why I asked & I don't need to go H beams so the consensus pf opinion sounds like Scat are the go. I've been told they are made in China (what isn't these days) but finished to spec' in the US. and as I mentioned this is for a street engine.

The SIR rods in our 318 Aspen Wagon that has
won its class at Indy US Nationals and set the National Record have
been in the engine 12 to 15 years (As I recall) and about
600/800 passes. I will not state the HP but it is 400+.

I have seen no issue with them in that time.

Scat, Eagle, all made in the big C.

No brainer, use one of these in H beams. Better steel, stronger:
probably the biggest benefit is that they use a bolt.....not a bolt & nut. The factory rod is undercut for the bolt head, creating a weak spot. H beam rods do not have this.
