I dont know if this is the right thread so I apologize if it isnt. We got my son a 74 Duster w 225. We just picked up a big block and 727 and was wondering about changing out the coil springs due to weight. I've been looking around this morning and have found 250-300# and 550# but not really seeing much for plymouth A body.
Any recommendations?

Which aftermarket coil-over front suspension does the car have?

Mopar A-Bodies come from the factory with torsion bars to spring the front suspension. There are multiple vendors that sell heavier duty torsion bars, but the 225 torsion bars were often used for drag racing, so you could leave them as is and tighten up the adjusters to accommodate the extra weight.

Does the car already have the big bolt pattern conversion for the wheels?

Upgrading the brakes is one of the first things you want to look at, especially with a big block.

The brake kit is on the list as well. All the go and no whoa is a must as its my sons 1st car at 17, we've had it 8 or 9 months now as a father son kinda deal an have been running it w the 6 in it. Drum all around is hardly even safe for 6 banger lol

I had forgotten the torsion bars. Thanks. You think just cranking them down will be enough? He bout a motor and trans last night, 413 wedge with a 727 behind it

Also, congratulations man. Just looked through your previous posts. Have a very close friend, more of a brother, going through that
