blower dudes

A buddy of mine wants me to weld up around the thermostat houseing that`s pitted real bad. But before I spend time on this project, here`s the deal. sbc small B&M blower & intake, marine application, out of cigar boat. He wants to use it on his car. Will this intake work on auto app.? The reason I ask is I notice the hole in the center of intake. It has runners for exhaust crossover, all leading to this open hole. Why do the throw exhaust into the intake charge? It can`t be coolant passage right? Or am I missing something? Or is he missing a plate or part? The top plate is for single 4 bbl. I`ve had no luck researching on web. Thanks for any imput8)

Old B&M, Weiand bought em out I believe. anybody? Boaters- will a marine manifold work on a automotive application? :clock: I dont want to waste my time, argon, rod, electricity, lol. besides I gotta replace a clutch in my work truck:crybaby:

the basics on a boat engine are the same as a car engine... there are some different materials used for some of the gaskets, and starter/alt/carb are different.... Marine engines will mix water in with the exhause to help keep the exhaust manifolds cool so you don't cook your engine compartment, but I have never seen anything odd with the intake manifold that would make it different than an automotive one....

Can you explain the water jacket crossovers leading to intake plenum, through that hole in pic in post#1? I guess they might make a gasket to block all crossovers?:scratch:

Thats ok I dont either! lol. anybody else familiar with these little street blowers? I looked on holley website and weiand marine still looks the same/ with hole. I even called their tech line and was transferred to a recording. F that, long distance, I hung up after a few minutes:bootysha: I guess this is futile on a Mopar site, being they dont make one for mopar except, 392 and 426 engines.

that's a hole to get heat into the intake. there is no water crossing over, only exhaust but it does not go into the inside of the intake, only the heat does. tap it and put a pipe plug in it.

Thanks Bob, that clears things up. On my ferd 390 intake, it seemed that actual exhaust crossed over with all the residue and crap that was under an access plate in center of manifold? I guess I`ll go ahead and repair so it can set on a shelf for another 5 yrs:cheers:
