Clean both sides of your piece with Dawn dish washing liquid. No scents. No hand lotions. Plain both sides. Your gonna handle both sides clean both sides. Clean with Windex, dollar store brands work. Do your body work. 80 grit is best to hold body fillers. Wet sand to 220, you can change the grit of sandpaper you are using by the pressure you use. Ease up on the last time you sand with the size grit of sand paper your using, your transcending into the next grit of paper. I do not recommend spray can primer and automotive paints. 95% will not be compatible. Etching primer is for bare metal. 2 coats. You can add light coats of spot putty after the etching primer has dried. Wetsand to 320. Coat with a high build primer for block sanding. You can stop at 320 grit if you are going to use a sealer. 600 Wet without sealer. You have to be sure your body work is right, your gonna shoot your base coats and go right into your clear coats. Your body work has to be there. You can not paint your way out of bad body work. Sealers block light and dark colors like we get with body fillers and different colored paints. They will block incompatible finishes if the previous paint has time to thouroghly dry. Sealers are ready to base coat usually within 1 hour. 2 light coats. Lightly, lightly tack with tack clothes with a low pressure air hose.
