Bolt pattern

Can soneone enlighten me on the difference between a large bolt pattern and a small pattern? Also , how can someone tell the difference? Advantages or disadvantages. Thanks :scratch:

The large bolt pattern has a 4.5" bolt circle same as most Ford 5 lug wheels. Nice because there are lots of options for wheels. These did not come on any 64 to 72 A body cars that I know of from the factory. The small bolt pattern is a 4" bolt circle with 5 lugs that you will find on most 64 to 72 Dusters, Darts, Valiants and 64 to 69 Barracuda's The only draw back is wheel choices are limited.

I changed to the 4.5 bolt pattern because of the rims choices. Like said above the 4" bolt pattern is very limited on chioces, but the sky is the limit on 4.5" bolt pattern. Almost every rim made is avaliable in 4.5" bolt.

Plus at the same time I was able to install disc brakes all the way around. Not sure if there is a disc brake kit for 4" bolt.
