Bought a "1995" dakota 3.9 and a500 with wiring no computer ?

how can i ID the engine year/ and what the correct computer number should be ? No VIN, just complete 3.9 engine & complete A500 RWD trans still bolted together, with complete wiring harness...BUT NO ECM !
How can I be sure of the year of these parts ? and How can I know what ECM # I would need to find ?
The computer had been lost long ago. Thanks

Engine block casting number. i doubt there are many variations on the 3.9’s in that era.
Ecm may work for several years.
Start with rock auto, may give you some clues as to what years the ecm will work.
Maybe the number off the throttle body would give you a clue too.

I have an ECM out of an early Dakota, I don't know what engine was in it, we bought it for parts. You are welcome to it for what ever the flat rate is from USPS.

There should be a bar code sticker on the engine somewhere, many times it's on the valve cover... The engine year should be coded in the bar code...
