Brake shoes

Could somebody tell me if the primary shoes face the front of a 1971 scamp or do they face the rear?i am working on my car and did not pay attention when I removed old shoes.Can the shoes be installed wrong?This is the only car I have worked on with a 4 wheel drum system.Thanks

Primary ( long lining) should be toward the rear.

The shoe that is shorter at the top is the primary, and goes on the front. From an ex-front end and brake guy; I did it for 5 years.

Ya know that is why I explained it above. Short shoe to front long shoe to the rear. I agree with you, short is primary, long is secondary. I just didn't wana start a pissin match. Know what I mean.
