As a result of a diff and housing change, I am upgrading my rear drum brakes from the old 9" drum brakes on the 7" diff housing to 11" drums on an 8.75 housing which Im fitting.

Will my current master cylinder (std 1972 power brake A Body) handle the increased pressure requirements of the 11" drums, and larger slave cylinders?

Is there anything that might be a problem with the brake lines or system with this change over?

Has anyone got pics of there right, left front brake shoes and the rear. And also the rear I want to make sure it all goes back together the way it should. Some of the things i found taking apart this Dart makes me think, thease guys know what they were doing. So pics of the shoes and springs would be good goods.I have 10 inch all around.

I did the same thing on my Duster. Only it's a 8-1/4. The Duster was OE equiped with 9 inch drums on all 4 corners. Power no less. I'm still running the 9's up front and the 11's in the back operate fine. I do stop quicker and in a shorter distance.

I did use new lines on the car since they were so bad I couldn't save them. Fine lines had stainless steel lines for a reasonable price and fit in just perfect.

Sorry I can't help ya there snake.

THanks Fish, my mian worry was brake lock up with the same Master and bigger slaves (than the 9" drums) , but sounds like it works OK?

I did the same with no mods years ago and the car had alot more stopping power with just the rear brake upgrade and worked perfectly.

The next change was to 74 dart front rotors and calipers along with a master cylinder off of an 80 volare and an adjustable proportioning valve.

Man this combo stops fast and straight

Moparmal, it works fine. I can lock'em up. If theres a worry on what locks up first, theres an adjustable valve that can be swaped in.

Willwood or MoPar have them.

Our 71 Vals came with a "proportioning" valve, but it really was rubbish - I'll look into that Mopar piece.
