I found the broadcast sheet out of my '77 D100. I'm trying to figure out the rear axle ratio. The number on the sheet is "4030609". Anybody know what that gives me?!

Do you see any A or I codes? I do not have a 1977 truck sheet handy to look at, but you can find the axle codes at http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/images/dealerships/DealershipDataBook/1977/77_trucks_0025.jpg

No A or I codes. Just that number I posted previously.
Based on the fact that its a factory 318, has a 3300lb capacity rear axle, and has a GVWR of 5500lbs its either a 2.71 or a 3.55. And based on how poor fuel mileage it gets, I would expect it to be the 3.55s.

Just jack up the rear axle, put it in neurtal, and turn the rear tire one full turn and count how many turns the u-joint makes. That is your ratio....
