Broken Diff

For my 72 Duster with a B Block 512 stroker build in the 650 HP range, I bought a Dana 60.
 
Gears are important too. Racing gears are softer so they don't break teeth on the initial shock like a trans brake and slicks deliver. Street gears are harder for wear properties but don't hold up as well at the track.

Yeah...good point.
Long life would mean hard and brittle but not so good for shock loads.
The gears i broke were original Chrysler gears.

So...does anyone know what brand would be best?

I've seen USA Standard,Yukon and Motive.
I know richmond make gears but haven't seen a reference to 3.73 ratio yet.
 
DAna 60 is my vote, especially if you're not planning gear changes for your combo...can't beat the strength. Plus, can't put a Ford rearend under that bad boy!
 
Just to update this thread for those interested.
New diff centre is a spooled 741 case 3.73 ratio.
Trans was removed and the sprag WAS hurt.It was replaced with a Coan Engineering supersprag.The trans was otherwise perfect.
The car has since done another 30 odd runs and on Saturday night(a cold one for here) it dropped to 11.9s in the 111s with 60s from 1.62-1.69.
Gotta love PBs !!!
