Has anyone had any luck fixing a broken emblem. I was on the chat last week and someone mentioned that I should try and solder (soder) it. I'm planning on buying a USED or NEW one as soon as I have the money but I'm not having much luck even finding one. This is the trunk emblem on my '69 Dart, it has just the two pins on it. I took the one from my hood to see if I could remove one of the pins and make the hood emblem work but wouldn't you know it, they don't line up?

Any help or advise is appreciated.

Thanks.

Rich

That is a fragile badge ! Solder or super glue may hold it until you attempt to tighten that nut on the 'E'.
If you really wanna install that piece for the time being, it can be done.
First lets just forget the nuts and cut 75% of both pins off. Tiny bits of tempered wire (like cut from a steel wire brush, something with a kink works best) placed across the breaks and fill the entire back cavity with 2 part epoxy. Now the back can be covered with the 2 sided adhesive trim tape (autozone). The fun part is detailing that trim tape with exacto knife before final peel and press on the car. If nothing else we've pluged the mounting holes.

Well let use find out how many deferent cars share the same emblem.
and get one there!! If you have good paint on the trunk I would not chance hurting the paint or loosing the emblem.
Red fish is correct!! Some folks just fill in the holes.
And his fix sound's doable to me too.:salute:

Neither the hood or the trunk emblem for 69 Dart is being reproduced.
I had a good trunk emblem for my 69 when I got the car, but my hood emblem is also broken like yours. I lucked out on eBay a few days ago and won the auction for a great looking one for my hood at $21.00. I feel like I stole it, but I have no idea why nobody else wanted to bid on it.
Keep looking on eBay as they come up every month or so.

Good Luck with your project!

George

Trying to repair one of those emblems is next to impossible and unfortunately, I don't think that particular '69 Dodge emblem is being reproduced. I happen to have one in very nice condition that I was saving from a former 1969 resto project that I can sell you. ($25.00 + $7.00 shipping). I included two pics. Drop me a line if you're interested "hpokrant@mts.net"

There you go BigRichieO!!!:thumleft:
That would last me maybe a weeks worth of cold beer.
this is a geat site.:drinkers:

Thanks guys for the help, I didn't think about using epoxy, wire, and the two sided tape. That does sound like a good fix. My car was just painted so if I use that solution temporarily what do think will happen to the paint when I find a good emblem and try to remove the repaired one?

Hartman-52 The emblem that you have is the hood emblem, the rear deck emblem is the one I need and it only has two pins. I still can't believe that they made two versions of the same thing, one with the two pins and one with three pins, go figure??? I did see a hood emblem on ebay too. I'm thinking that the rear deck emblems might be more rare because in an accident they are not protected and get mangled. I going to keep looking though. Thanks guys.
