broken master cylinder piston

just replaced master cyl 2 weeks ago earlier this week went to store come back walked out to check mail and tail lights are on so i start looking and find master cyl piston has pushed past retainer tab and has chunk out of it anyone seen this before [all drum no power]

Are you saying the piston pushed out onto the floorboard of the car?

it pushed past the retainer and the little tab that held it in claimed a bite on the out side of where the pushrod goes into. already replaced master cylinder

well i dont know what happened exactly but the tailight switch bracket got bent and allowed pedal to move toward dash and master cyl piston follwed it it was not yanked on so i dont know i replaced switch and bent bracket back into 90 degree position no problems so far any body ever heard of this happening
