I have a 70 Duster that I want to replace the front bench seat with buckets. I purchased a set of aftermarket seat rails. The set has two different seat track releases, one uses a wire to release the seat track on the other side and one does not. My question is which side gets the dual seat track release rails?

I'm not sure why you'd get 2 different styles of tracks from the same supplier, but they should be left & right side specific....

As it turns out they can only be installed on the proper side, the spring wants to bring the seat forward when the catch is released, if you trade sides the spring wants to pull the seat back!

I don't recall any seat rails that didn't latch on both sides which would require a cross wire. The wires do attach differently, left seat different from right seat.

The late 71 and up seat tracks don't have a wire connecting them. The inner track actually floats and is non-locking.....

If you say so. Sounds like the seat could turn you into the A post in a collision.
Too late for a safety recall I guess. LOL
