Build me an engine...

Ok my 340 (the original engine) is way to much for my needs at this time. Huge solid roller, about 12 to 1 compression. Its an 11.78 @ 118 engine...

I want to cruse with the old lady, car shows in the summer, lazy easy stuff...

What I want. Small block, that gives the feel/power level/sound my 340 originally had (68 340 Formula S, 4 speed, 3.91 dana 60 in car, 3.23, 8 3/4 stock) in a low cost (318/360) reliable package.

Some build parameters... Will be running my org, 340HP exhaust manifolds, cast iron intake, and AVS.

Give me your ideas. I don't want to de-tune my 340.

360
kb107's
iron heads
Comp xe262-268H or 60402 lunati

Should run low-mid 13's and mellow on the drive.

I'd also run one of the Comp cams. I like the XE268 for the current set up. (Rear gear)
The KB107's might be a tad high for your application, so, the Fed-Mougal slugs that are out there have a tad less compresion height and the pistons sides are coated for anti scuff. They come with rings and are comparable in price.

The KB107's deliver 9.8-1 with an open chambered head like the X or J and a .039 gasket. It maight be a bit much for 92 or 93 octane and a smallish cam. (It's doable, but there have been some complaints. Better to error on the side of caution and go a hair low.)

Small AVS or large? Go large if possible.

LOL, don't know if my AVS is small or large. Its the original one. Casting # 4424s.

Bada bing, there ya go. According to the old Carter tech line, when I called up, they said it was rated @ 630 cfm. Good to go for a street application. The larger one is rated @ 750 of course.

Throw on a set of EQ magnum heads with the LA intake bolt pattern and use either the stock 340 intake or a LD340 with a Eddy 650 AVS. You'll have a stock looking motor that cooks.

I like the idea Adam, but he put up;
