building 360 need answers

allright im rebuilding a 360 my first build i pulled this engine out of a 73 pick up and was told i needed a differnt oil pan and sump and someone else says i dont need to do this what should i do does it even make a difference the only differnce is oil capacity right ?

Nope truck pan and pick up will not work in a passenger car.

Yup truck pan is a rear sump and car pan is a center sump.

There's a large 3 digit number stamped on the correct 360 pan. Will take the guess work out of buying a used one if you go that route. Maybe someone can chime in with it. I forget what it was. 587 or something.
