Since Denver Fire Department outlawed chrome plating in the city and county of Denver, can any of the other Coloradoans point me to someplace sort of local to get my Dart bumpers redone? I'm looking at a place in Utah and another in Kansas. The place in Kansas already quoted me $1,800.

1800 clams? My word! I remember when we were in school and doin paint and body work for people, we'd put them on the Greyhound bus to Atlanta. They'd clean, straighten strip and rechrome them for 250 bucks or less and that included the trip back.

How long ago was that?

A buddy of mine has a few parts for his chopper at Royal Plating in Tucson. You might consider them, as well as Capital Metal, if you're going out of state.

Due to environmental regulations and the lack of people doing chroming, it is expensive everywhere

I priced having both bumpers done on a ‘54 Chevy wagon. I was quoted $950-$1200 apiece, with dent removal extra. A guy working at the shop confided to me they take all the large pieces to Mexico, have it done cheap, then bring it back and jack up the price.

Since I don’t speak Spanish and I don’t have any connection in Mexico, the old Chevy got its bumpers powder coated for $400 total. Makes them 10-20 footers.

I was unimpressed with Royal they kept lying to me getting some rocker moldings fixed.

Capital has treated me right. They get about $800 per bumper including minor straightening

what kind of car? I got NEW front and rear bumpers for my 1970 Dart From AMD and they were beautiful! and for a lot less money than that.

Depending on what the OP is after the AMD ones are nice (put them on the daughters 72 Duster as they were missing) but they are not what I would call show quality. After having Capital do the rest of my cars bumpers the shine and depth of the chrome from having them done by a good shop is night and day compared to new AMD bumpers.
