Bumper shock removal?

How do you remove the shock from the housing, drilled and drained the oil, have shaft in a vise and hammered the end of housing, also sprayed the housing with pb blaster and nothing, I can spin the shock in the housing but won't come out, any ideas?

Yes that was the thread I was looking at that and they were saying to cut the shock in half but I can't get the shock out to cut it 74 duster back bumper

Looking at this picture, it looks like the shank may be tapered. Have you tried wacking on the stud?

yes that's my bracket, so cut the shaft off flush with the housing?
 
The picture I brought over from the other thread shows some of the housing also cut. It is a shame they didn't give you any measurements. Sadly, I don't know the answer. If it was me I would chop the shaft off at the housing to start with and see if it will go back to where you want it.
