Anyone have suggestions on which plug wires to use with the MSD distributor and the 340 Hipo manifolds. Ive installed the plug wire sleeves and that doesnt help. I've burned the crap out of the wires-mainly on the back two cylinders on the drivers side. They are straight boots onto the plugs, should I look for 90 degree onto the plugs or 45 degree. I really dont want to spend the $175+ for the heat shield exhaust gaskets. ](*,)

i used to run taylor straight boot style when i had my manifolds. what about the msd wires that you can bend the end to suit?

i ran into a problem like that with my headers and custom wires, drivers side last two plugs the straigh boots would touch wound up using two 360 coil wires with the 45% boot.anyway i would say you're going to have to find double 45% boots that way you can go low and clear your manifolds.

They are MSD 8.5 wires with straight boots. I think I need to find a way to keep them held away from the manifolds or try and get 90 degree ends. I also thought of the expensive route, pull the manifolds sell them and the head pipes(which would probably pay for half) and order TTI's. 8)

show a pic. are they too long? here's mine back when i had manifolds and the heat shield.

I see the problem. You are running the Mopar Performance valve covers. They dont have any wire holders.

That is the reason I run factory valve covers. They have the holders to pull the wire away from the exhaust manifolds. I have never had a problem.

My new motor will have the MSD 8.5 wires.

Here is a pic of my old 318 motor.
