Ok was wondering something,,got a 4 speed car,and for whatever reason the throw on this thing is way to much. I was told that the shifter might not be the right one ( seems it may be from a B body )and that by swaping out the lower part ( the shifting arms ) that I might be able to correct this.

The biggest bang for the buck relating to shifters is the Hurst Indy unit for A-bodies. It comes with the shifter, rods, lever, adapters and all the hardware needed to install for $140 from either Jegs or Summit.

I replaced the worn out Hurst unit that was in my car last winter with this unit and I couldn't be happier. Nice short tight throws. The only thing I didn't like was the short (7") straight handle on the shifter but since it is a bolt on I just drilled mounting holes in the bottom of the handle I had and used that.

A shorter shift arm on the tranny or a longer one on the shifter will give you a shorter throw but it will take more effort to put in gear.

The shifter housing itself is a 6356,7174,,,yeah first thought was change rods.
