Button in or out

I'm sure this Has been answered before but I'm new to the forum . I'm shortening and 8 3/4 rear end for my dart And putting in green style bearings I have the center section completely apart rebuilding it do I leave the button in or take it out thanks in advance for your answers

If left in with greens, the axle flanges may not seat all the way.

Leave it out, it could hold the axles out and put unwanted pressure on the bearings and bend the retaining plates.
