Hey guys I have a few questions . I have a LD340 intake manifold on my Dart and I can't get out the metal tube thats threaded in the intake (from cross-over ) ! I was thinking about applying a little heat while trying to un-screw it , do you have any other suggestions ? I hope I don't have to remove the intake manifold !

Not going to be an easy task. Unfortunately if it's not wrapped with teflon tape, or a non set pipe dope it probably won't come out in one piece. And hopefully won't break the intake, which is quite common from what iv'e seen at swap meets. If you are removing it to put on another intake I say buy another fitting. If it's broken then I would try and split it by slowly by hand cutting the fitting from inside and getting it to drop out that way. That is if a pipe wrench has not worked as of yet. But even then I would be real real careful.

I'm not changing the intake, I have to change the metal tube to a reduced fitting because the int manifold tube is 3/4" and the water pump tube measures 5/8" . I can't get the rubber cross-over tube to streatch to 3/4 its 5/8 now

Is the hose a pre-made bypass hose? As my intake is 3/4 and water pump nipple is about 5/8 guessing because it has the hose on it. The hose tends to have both sizes if I recall correctly, unless it's a cheapie.

Same here. Both ends seem to be a different diameter..

oops thats what mine is also but where do u find a hose 3/4 on one end & 5/8 on the other ? I took the hose to NAPA for the guy to try & match up but he said he couldn't find anything ! Anyway I took off the intake & will look at it further , should also be getting my 3:91's soon to install .

Do not heat the intake while you are unthreading, there is a good chance you will pull the threads out with the nipple. You can heat the intake to help get rid of the disimiliar metal corrosion but let the intake cool before you try to remove the nipple. This applies anytime you need to heat aluminum to remove something, let it cool first.

buy the larger nipple for the water pump,
heck if you have to buy a new water pump, they are cheap at Advance;
leave the large fitting in the intake alone.

Believe me its easier, and safer.
