Calling all steering column gurus

I have a 67 dart, PS, floor shift, steering column.

And a 68 barracuda, manual steering, column shift, steering column

I want to swap the manual steering shaft into the PS steering column.

I have read the FSM, seems pretty straight forward.

Any tips?

I know I could get an adapter, or break the plastic inserts in the shaft and lengthen it. But I do not want to do either.
