who made the converter?
what's you tire size and compression ratio?

It's a no name converter that I've had for years.
275/60R15's 28" and 26x9.50-15 Hoosier QTP
360 H116 speedpros Edelbrock heads, air gap, 17 initial 32 total.

Both cams were used with a 4 speed for a short while with both gear sets. no change in my above opinion.
