I have become a bit interested in photography. Not just simple point and shoot type of stuff, but shoot a bit overexposed while capturing RAW images. Then some simple cleanup in Lightroom, a photo editing software. I have several nice lenses. And 2 camera bodies. My favorite camera body is my Canon 5D Mark IV. Far from inexpensive but takes some phenomenal images. One of its strong points is it takes beautiful photos in low light settings.
Recently bought a Canon 7D Mark II. Great camera. Not as good as the other one in low light...which is why I will probably be getting rid of it. But one thing I do like about it is the fact that it can capture up to 10 images a second...which makes capturing failures at the race track interesting.
This past weekend, in addition to it being a Summit points series race the Dukes Auto Club was there. Since I have been going to the track watching them they never fail to....well...either crash a car or two...or grenade something. Many of these guys have never been down a track, so when something is wrong they don't know how to respond. Last year there was a beautiful black 55 Chevy. Big block, 4 gear. Gigantic meats under it. Car and driver had never been down the track. Car had a ton of wheel hop...and typical of a rookie racer instead of getting out of it he just kept rowing thru the gear box....until the pass where the wheel studs let loose...exposing spacers that appeared to be at least 3" thick.
This years failure....young guy with a Falcon, slicks and a 4 speed. This guy goes to do his burnout and the car is immediately on the rev limiter...begging for mercy. No courtesy stage here...prestage/stage before his competitor had even begun his burnout. By the time his competitor was prestaged the falcon had the loud pedal matted...motor screaming for mercy. Tree came down and well....will stop boring you...
This thing did not even move prior to the pinion gear exiting the housing.
The track did a fantastic job cleaning it up. Next racer to go down that lane said that his hot rod had the best 60' time ever...lol...
The track had some sort of gremlin take up residence in the timing network. Replaced a bunch of boards...still no timing system. Management called it, said that the Dukes will finish on the 22nd of this month. The Summit race had not even started, so they will hold Summit Series #10 then as well. Going to be along weekend. Track already had a points race scheduled for Saturday...and Sunday....in addition to some sort of Superquick Series.
So any of you folks that live in and around the Spokane area...if you would be interested in watching/participating in a full weekend of racing please do join us...
