so i have a 67 dart been sitting for 8 years just got it running has a 904 trans that when parked drove great.it has new filter and fluid,i just put in a new floor shifter in,ran topped off fluid so i know is full.when i put in gear you feel it enguage every gear but acts like the brakes are siezed give it gas it sqwats when i heavy throttle can get pass tire to squeal but it does not want to move or go.i have lifted and checked all wheels free spin all 4,pulled driveline to make sure my rearend was not the issue can turn yoke by hand watch wheels go round so i know its not binding.i have had many cars that sat for years and have never had issues like this.so i dont know if its the shifter install i checked under the car while someone shifted through gears all looked fine or the transmission.any advice on maybe what i should look at or check for its got me a little confused.any advice greatly appreciated thank you

Does sound like brakes if the car squats.

Did you have the pan off or valve body out? Sounds like it's in 2 gears at once.

Is this a stock floor shifter or aftermarket racing shifter?

i thought it was brakes also.i have it on a lift all 4 wheels can spin with my hand.then i thought rearend so removed driveline can spin yoke with my hands and watch passenger wheel turn then have someone hold pass tire and watch drivers turn all by hand.thats were i got confused and can only think shifter adjustment or transmission.when i put trans linkage all the way back in park shifter linkage lines up perfect so it should be adjusted correctly.

All of this is information that should have been included in your first post. This is how threads like this get to be ten pages long with no solution. Good luck with it. I'm out.

Check on shifter adjustment.
Put shifter in park, neutral and 1st,then check each time and make sure the transmission matches.
The ratio may be off.
Did you use the shift lever that came with the shifter?

Did u try turning the drive shaft each way when u had it off the diff yoke? One way it turns easy and the other way is harder to turn.
