Can It Be Saved?

Just a question about my old crank. It's an oem 340 forged crank that got chewed into about .070 or so at the thrust bearing. Is it worth keeping? Or is it scrap? Don't know much about that sort of thing, thanks for reading.

I would take the crankshaft to a reputable machine shop that "knows" Mopars and ask them if it can be saved, and if it's cost efficient and effective. Just my .02

i had a 340 crank that the thrust was wore bad and my machine shop welded it and reground the thrust it turned out like new cost me 75 bucks but that was in 96 and its still runin strong should be an easy fix at a good shop

That's the kicker- finding a "good" shop that knows Mopars....

as long as they can weld and grind up a crank then they can fix it...

to give you an idea i asked about a offset weld and grind to the tune of about .250"

and it was only 350 bucks... so one journal shouldn't be bad...

Good enough. I'll keep it for now. I have the whole rotating assy. plus the rods, rockers, shafts. The engine never suffered any catastrophic failure. I just had serious endplay. Maybe one day if I come across a good block and some heads I'll build an extra 340. Thanks everyone.
