Just found photos of a recently sold 3854S AFB on Ebay which is pictured with the choke pull-off valve (choke vacuum diaphragm) connected to the port I use for distributor vacuum advance which is on the front of the carb right alongside the passenger side idle mixture screw.

My 3854S AFB pull-off valve is currently connected to a port on the passenger side of the carb near the front which is directly below the pull-off valve (which you can see in the photo is free/open). On page 14-58 of my Plymouth 1965 Service Technical Manual we find it showing my hose arrangement is correct. Just be careful when you purchase stuff online.

Silly Q.
Distributor Vacuum advance...
Above or below the throttle plates or manifold Vacuum?

What would be the proper stock location on a 69 383 4 speed?
Thanks
Joe

That one is connected to ported vacuum. Kind of funny actually.

The one on the side.

Yea.
I took my kid to school the other morning and was running late, didn't warm it up.
It was bucking and backfiring a bit, that's prob the soot.
