I'm just curious how many of you Canadians work in the oil fields? It would be interesting if a member was working the same site as me and I didn't even know it. I'm an electrician at Suncor Firebag, Stage 4 with Canonbie. Before here, I was at Suncor Firebag Stage 3, and before that I was at Shell Albian Sands, Froth plant.

Anyone else up here?

Oilfield trash here, just not in the same dump! Been working in Ft. St. John B.C. for the last year and Ft. Nelson B.C. for six or so prior to that. Seems I will be here for a while yet.

Oilfield trash here too,,,Directional Driller. Currently working in whitecourt/swanhills area on a project for Pengrowth.
I do have an Electrician friend who was in Firebag the last 3-4 months (has been there often in the last 10 yrs), he does some kind of quality control crapola, checks stuff out and gives it the OK before it goes online. No actual hands on installing stuff. He bounces around the Ft. Mac area.

I work for the biggest,Syncrude live in Ft.Mac place has been good to me,but I don't drink or party with the I work at site crowd I guess I don't own enough hurley or tap out gear and my truck isn't six feet in the air lol

I'm the same, I stay sober at work, and save the drinking for when I'm home with the gf and family. I agree with you, the Tap Out shirts drive me nuts!

Drop me a pm if you are in the whitecourt area with some contact info. I live here, if you want to talk some "mopar" you can stop by for a BS.

not myself - but my bro's out with syncrude as a stationary engineer - still lives in N.S. and flys out for his shift

Fort St John is my hometown. Been through Whitecourt many times. Good moose hunting area. Nasty winter driving between there and Fox Creek.

Ah, a "Foreskinjohn" native! LOL. I would think if you haven't been here in a while you would be shocked. She's busy up here. I travel from Southern Alberta every two weeks and hell ya those Whitecourt to Fox Vegas roads can be bad. Whitecourt seems to be in it's own weather system as well! Life in the patch. :D

Worked there from 79 to 89 at the Squirrley Creek Gas plant when it was still owned by Imp. Oil

Funny thing about Mac Money, I installed some equipment at the Nexen Long Lake project when it was being built. Spent 6 months up there (10 days in 5 out) finally got out for good and swore to the boss if he ever tried sending me up there again I'd quit. Obviously he didn't take me seriously cuss 6 months later I got the phone call to go and 10 minutes later I quit. God that felt good. Stupid square head should have listened:finga:

Hey Rod,

We are about 45km north of Casino and 15km in from the east of the Judy Creek plant right now, about on hour from town for the next 3 weeks. I live at the rig, too much driving for me to go to town from here. The rig is suppose to move into the South Judy Creek area after, I should only be about half hr from town after that, then I would definately give you a shout to go for a brew and BS about some mopars.
Starting in may I will be camping out at Carson/Pegasus for a month or two while working. This way I can bring the wife and dogs up to come hang out with me when I'm off shift. That is if the rig doesn't shut down. I did that all of last spring, it was very nice.

Cheers
Rod

Sounds good give me shout when you are closer to town. We camp out at Carson too in the summer. I work at the ANC mill across the highway from the casino.
