Sad day for hockey, Dale Hawerchuk, former Winnipeg Jets captain and 9 time scoring leader died today following his long battle with cancer, he was 57, same age as me.

R.I.P. Dale, and thanks for all the great memories.

He was a class act but was always in the shadows cast by the Oilers and Flames. If the Jets were in the Patrick or Adams divisions they would have had a chance of appearing in a Stanley Cup final.

He won the key face off in the ‘87 Canada Cup that lead to the winning goal scored by Lemieux and assisted by Gretzky.

RIP Dale. He was the heart and soul of the Jets. I saw that 87 Canada cup game. 6-5 Canada over the USSR. In fact I have a picture with Canada’s 3 greatest goals. Kim
