Can anyone tell me if the base gasket for a 1973-340, 4bbl, work on a 1972-340, 4bbl. with a stock intake and Thermoquad. I ordered a new Fel Pro gasket and the packaging says it's for 1973 and up 318/340/360 and 400. The parts store tell me that it's the same part number as the 72.

I don't have a lot of experience with Thermoquads yet, but there are 2 sizes of OEM Mopar TQ carbs with the size difference being in the primaries. But all the 340 TQ's were small. The OEM gaskets were also 1/4" thick. Not sure if the Fel-Pro is that thick. I got some 1/4" gaskets from 2 different sources, but I don't recall from where or the brand. One of them fits the small version, but isn't quite right for the bigger version. The smaller one might be a Q-Jet base gasket.

technically, the books are correct. What you have in your possession, I cannot say. Can you post a pic? The ones they used to supply were like a 1/4" thick hard plastic, with a thin graphite like impregnated gasket, that was non-stick, laminated to both sides. They are reusable many, many times. But I don't know where you get them anymore. I used to get them from MA Mopar, but that was about 20 yrs ago. Maybe someone has the old part number and can supply it for you to check on.

This is what I bought. I can't open the package because if I do then I can't return it, but it is about a 1/4".
