I purchased this some years ago (on label: "includes basket") and was very disappointed in its performance. Gave it a second chance during the Thermo-Quad rebuild. Overnight, it didn't seem to even touch the black stains on the choke plate and in the throttle bores. Even with a toothbrush after the soak it was a major battle. It does have that familiar stink though.

So I brought out my two new cans of Mopar throttle body cleaner. Neither one would spray (have been on the shelf for years waiting for a dirty job). I do have some Q-tips and acetone I can try to use to finish things up.

Don't let your stuff soak too long. While it won't eat away the green meanies, it will eat aluminum, zink and pot metal
Ask me how I know.

The spray carburetor cleaner is about the strongest now. I use the O'Reilly brand. It's pretty strong. Wear safety glasses.

i remember when that stuff would burn your skin off
one of my customers has a sonic cleaner took my mc carb came out mint
thinking i want one big enough to do 4bbl

They had the HP Kleenflo stuff on sale last year at Princess Auto for $100/ 3-4 gallons, and I was strapped at the time...

Back in the day, the good stuff I believe was Dicloromethane. It was truly nasty stuff, but your stuff came out looking like new cast. They still sell that stuff at chemical companies, but I'm not sure if the carb cleaner was full strength or was diluted with inert additives. Anyways where would you get rid of it after it's lifespan. Not only does the EPA limit what you can use, they make it near impossible to dispose without spending boatloads of cabbage.
Around here you can't even get methylene chloride carb cleaner much less paint stripper. Everything is citrus based.

When i was in votech
They used lye as parts washer
We would glass bead something
Grab a part out of the washer
And find out where every hole was in the blaster gloves

The foamy intake cleaner works pretty well as a carb cleaner. If you have black carbon buildup it will clean it off after a soak. ‘Three Bond Engine Conditioner’ is a good one.

I saw that deal too out here! Everything is so watered down now for ‘safety’.

I hate picking the cobb or walnut media out of primer flash holes. I can’t imagine trying to get it out of carb orifices.
I think the way to go is ultrasonic for the orifices and vapor blasting for the surfaces these days.

I separate the ethanol from my lawnmower gas and use the 100% ethanol as carb/parts cleaner/degreaser.
For carbon I use acetone and MEK (methyl ethyl ketone) buy it on Amazon or at tractor supply.

mix water in it, shake it. let it sit to separate. Ethanol and water sinks to bottom, gas stays on top. Pour/extract the gas ( which will be lower octane) off of the top.
Separating Ethanol from water is more involved, I have a still.
Start small in a clear container if you try this.
