years ago when I was actively building these old cars, I used the pail of NASTY carb cleaner. I have mechanic ( tractor and sometime car) mechanic. he cleans carbs with the good brand of spray carb cleaner. wondering if this is adequate.
working on 63 dart slant, with the 1920 , rod working vintage. I just put in engine and got it to fire for just a secomd . shut if off as I don't have throttle rod for it and I want to add mechanical oil pressure switch too, the old carb ( someone sent me), its plenty nasty lookin, the accelerator pumps works, and it started leaking at bowl. looks to be good just needs cleaning and kit.
I hate that stinkin carb cleaner. in the pail...... will the good spray stuff be adequate?????????

The Barrymans is good at getting the black carbon deposits off of parts, but has a strong smell ---> Don't use it indoors....

The Brake cleaner can get most other stuff off and does not smell as strong. Get the red stuff shown in the picture, not the green.

These do the trick for me. Both are available at Auto Zone.
