Drove the car 100miles last week with no problems just a little rough at idle. I have been chasing a "rich problem" and rough idle but the car was running pretty good. Anyway, I went to start the car the next day and it flooded. Won't start and I cant get it to start for more than 5 seconds. Smells like gas.

Thought it was the power valve but took the carb apart and the valve seems to be fine. Air tight when I sucked on it.

I pulled the plugs and they were real black, wet and sooty so I cleaned them.....The car still will not start.

The secondary fuel bowl is filled to the top and it appears there is gas leaking out of vacuum adjustment thing. Any ideas? Could it be the secondary vacuum adjustment???

Check the float level, buy a vacuum gauge, and check your vacuum, for the power valve. Or maybe just rap the sec bowl, and see if it settles down.

Sorry that doesnt make sense to me. I am a novice tuner. I cant get the car to start. How will the vacuum gauge help? I have one but if I cant get the car started what are you asking me to do with it?

It sounds like you float bowls are stuck or could be plugged jet?Have you tried tapping carb. to un-stick the floats?Something is making it feed to much gas.Was car stored over winter? Was stabilizer used in fuel?Gotta ask, need more info.?

Yes the car sat for almost 4 months. When I took the front bowl off to inspect power valve one of the gaskets was pretty dried out. Maybe u are on to something. What should I go through on the carb

The secondary fuel bowl is full of gas and there is gas leaking out of vacuum adjustment. I tried to adjust float but nothing happen. Do you think it is stuck? What should I do?
