Use: Mainly street hot street I hope, but a trip or so to the strip every month to race my buddies Malibu.

Here is what I have:
1971 Duster.
X heads
Compression ratio just about 10:1
Torque Converter will be between 2500-3000 stall
Headers Dougs
340 bored over 30.
904 Auto Transmission.
RPM Air Gap Intake.
3.55 Gears now, hope to change to 3.91.
Cam:
Dur @ .050” Lift:
223°/234° RR: 1.5/1.5 Gross Lift: .480”/.494” LSA: 112° RPM: 2000 to 4800 Redline: 5300

Let me know if you need any other info. I have an Edelbrock 1405 that came with the car, but 600cmf seems a little lean too me, but then again I know nothing when it comes to carbs.

Nice to see you assemble it.Any porting/bowl work? Porting,3.55's and a 750 of some sort.Unported,3.91's somewhere around 650-700.That cam,likes 750 or so, airflow wise.Best one I ran,basic 4779 750 Holley double pumper.A Edelbrock 750 would kill,as well.

A reminder.Real shift point,6000 minimum.If head work at all,figure 6200.

My 340 hits 7000+, almost instantly, with a vac sec 750, no hesitation at all. but that's w/ 4:10's and a 2200 stall. Nothing stock but the block (and I did some oil mods to that) 10:5 to 1 std bore forged pistons, .484 cam, Holley strip dominator, the air gap may be a better intake ( my friend has one on his 71 340, 4 spd Cuda, w/ the .509, the double pumper work great w/ his combo, but I would go with a vac sec w/ a 904 (unless you run a lil stall)

You are going to have a great, street-able, reliable, but nasty 340! Happy chebby Hunting!
