started the car to back it out of the shop and it ran fine. After about a half a minute it began to miss and then stalled.I could smell gas and when i lifted the hood the carb was super flooded....lots of gas!
...what a pain, who have had this happen and what was the cause/fix..?

Take the carb apart and clean it out. Probably has some junk under a seat or something. Or could be a stuck float.

yep, time for a rebuild. A good whack with a rubber mallet may clear it up for awhile.

Oh, and I'd recommend rolling it over for 15-20 seconds with the distributor unhooked to try and clear some of the gas so you don't have any issues.

tx guys,you confirmed my thoughts.
Lots of gas...think i'll change the oil too
