Ok, first let me say I don't know a lot about Mopars, especially 60's-70's. This is my issue. I purchased a mid 1970's "318" used guaranteed to be a good running engine. So, cleaned it up, looks pretty now with fresh paint and all new gaskets, etc….. The carburetor that came with was a holley 2 bbl and it was damaged. Well the guy never got me a replacement. So, I purchased a carter from a member on this sight and he sent it right away. Fabulous. I cleaned it all and rebuilt it with a kit. Go to put it on and it the bolt pattern is smaller on the carb. So after some digging, I actually purchased a 360 according to the casting above the starter on the block. Maybe a good deal or not. What is really crazy about this is the guy I bought it from ran a salvage yard for 15 years and is into hot rods and classics and that whole thing. He got this wrong. I also did because of my lack of knowledge. So I need to rectify this. With regards to the Carter 2 bbl carburetor, will it work on this 360. I know I have to get an adapter plate. That doesn't bother me. Will this thing feed the 360. Now, this isn't a hot rod or a drag car. It's strictly a cruiser for parades and Sunday drives, well, that is what my customer is telling me he will use it for. Give me your thoughts on this swap and if it will work. I know it will be fine at lower rpms but if this guy wants to run it at 5K then there might be an issue. For a cruiser and a street driven car, will this work and work fine???

You probably should add more information about the carb you intend to use. The carb kit you bought should tell the model. You should also be able to determine the CFM.

Myself, I wouldn't feel right giving a customer something that has been adapted to fit.

I have a holley to fit the large bolt pattern 360 cheap.
PM me

I have a Holley also that came with it. However, the airhorn is damaged. I did find another for $20 but I'm waiting. From what I have found out is the carter will work and will supply enough CFM for normal driving. The Carter 318's were 280 CFM and the Holley's on the 360's were 320CFM so not much difference.

.............I can honestly tell u that u and ur customer will not be happy with that 318 carter on that 360..............kim........
