Does anyone have any special way to store a carburetor that may not be used for quite some time, other than just dump the gas out, put it in a plastic bag, and put up on a shelf out of the way and forget about it ?

That's pretty much about it. You could also remove the float bowls to make sure all the gas is out, re-install the bowls and throw a couple of desiccant packets in the bag and seal tightly.

One thing I would do Keith, is store it in a warm area where there is no chance for condensation to form on the inside of the plastic.
