I am fixin to rebuild a carter AFB number 4312 for a 67 440.

I scored the carb as a core from a fabo seller and the engine came out of a 67 GTX. (stock specs and still a strong runner)

The carb number comes back for a 67/440 auto California.

I would like to know what the "California" part means on the carb.

Any AFB gurus out who can tell me any little tricks or things to expect

I was going to get a kit from auto zone made by GP Sorenson which has all new gaskets/pump thingy and float gauges. The core is very decent and everything moves around freely. I have put kits in carbs before so I am not a stranger to having a carb apart, however this is the first time I am messing with an AFB. I have fiddled with a lot of Thermoquads successfully so far.

Is there anything I can do to this AFB carb to make it reliable or anything to watch out for?

california would mean for CAP (clean air package). If you've done TQ's an AFB should be a walk in the park. If you don't have one, if available download the service manual for the settings. If not, let me know Ill scan the pages for you.
