Is there any way (without disassembly) to properly identify a Carter BBD style 2-barrel when the identification tag is missing?

I have a 1967 with a 273-2bbl setup and was told that the carb on it may not be the original and could be for an earlier 273.

In the end, I am just curious as I am switching out in favor of an LD4B paired with an Edelbrock 1406 next week.

The body shows a Carter number 0-1949, and the upper portion near the air cleaner has the number 1965 on it.

I can try to post a couple pics shortly if that would help.

Any thoughts or do we need pictures?

hints for that carb. the two long bolts that go from top casting to the bottom casting. be sure and dont over tighten them. the castings will warp. the float level is 1/4" i have done lots of them and all of charts only have the one float level. AFB charts have several diff levels. but 5/16 works best.
