My water neck has been leaking a little around the in take. Where is the easiest place to drain some of the coolant out so I can get a new gasket and put a new thermostat while I am at it. What degree thermostats do most of you run?

There should be a drain petcock on the bottom of the radiator.
I normally run a 195 deg thermostat.

Open the pet **** on the bottom of the radiator. I run a 180* in my smallblock. 195* is the recommended stat.

Once you have the stat housing off, use a flat surface and put a piece of sandpaper on it and slide the housing back and forth to flatten it. That should help fixing the leak. Try some sealant on the bolts when you put it back together, some of those housing bolt holes are wet,( go into water).
