Changing Rearends from 7.35 to 8.25

I am going to be replacing a 7.25 rearend in a 67 Dart with a 8.25 rearend.Will the U bolts and shock plates work off of the 7.25 on the 8.25 or do I need to buy some different ones. Can these be purchased new and where If i do need to change them.

You wil need to change the bolts and plate as the 8 1/4 is bigger. I am sure you can get them new, just not too sure where. I also believe you will need to shorteen your drive shaft.

yea your gonna have to replace the ubolts +shock plates got mine at mancini racing like 80 dollars for both you also have to have driveshaft shorten

The difference in length for the driveline is 1.6" shorter for going from a 7 1/4 to an 8 1/4.

Also 8.25 and 8.75 use different shock plates so make sure you get the correct set.

Adam what's different about them? I thought you could use them, the tubes are the same size aren't they. I'm about to do the same conversion and don't want to get the wrong ones.
